As concrete cures (hardens) chemicalsrise to the surface which react with the paint. Paint manufacturers recommend waiting at least 6-8 weeks after pouring to have your new concrete line marked to avoid possible issues with paint lifting. Please note that concrete is an unpredictable surface, there are many variables which can affect the integrity of your surface such as the weather when the concrete was poured and the thickness of your concrete. In some cases paint may flake off for no apparent reason.you can read indurstrial epoxy flooring

Grinding is only recommended on concrete surfaces and there are varying degrees of grinding abrasiveness. Grinding involves using a diamond tip grinding wheel and removing 1-2 mm of the surface in preparation for painting or epoxy.(Scarifying is the preparation used for asphalt surfaces and is a more abrasive process than grinding). Grinding surfaces means extra downtime for many businesses and adds an additional cost even though the end result is much more attractive. The surface will be clean and well prepared for epoxy and/or line marking coatings.if you want to learn more please visit polished concrete grinding

We use a quick drying paint which is manufactured especially for the environments in which we use it. On average the paint will take about 1 hour to dry but this will of course depend on factors such as weather and thickness of application.

The longevity of paint is dependent on many factors, especially how much traffic uses the area. For this reason paint will have a lifetime of between 2-5 years. Using Long life instead of paint can extend this up to 10 years.

No manufacturer will give a warranty on their product when it is used on concrete as it is classed as an unstable surface, particularly when it is used in outdoor areas. However, we can give you life expectancies for the products we use and we can certainly guarantee our work will be of the highest standard.

Many customers are surprised to learn epoxy floor coatings come in a huge array of formulations. The right type of epoxy flooring will depend on your environment, whether the epoxy will be installed in a home garage, food processing plant, warehouse, or hospital. Here are the major types of epoxy flooring available.

  • 100% solids epoxy. This is a durable form of epoxy flooring that contains 100% epoxy solids. Compare this to DIY garage epoxy kits and “epoxy paint” which may contain anywhere from 10% to 40% epoxy solids.
  • Epoxy mortar flooring. This epoxy formulation includes ground quartz and it’s designed for the most demanding industrial environments. Epoxy mortar systems are rated for better chemical and impact resistance.
  • Static dissipative epoxy. This formulation includes a conductive compound and it provides electrostatic control properties for industries that involve volatile chemicals and electronic components to avoid injury and damage.
  • Quartz epoxy. This type of epoxy flooring is ultra-strong yet decorative and it includes colorful quartz granules for a hard-wearing surface.
  • Epoxy flake flooring. This form of epoxy flooring is popular for garages and commercial areas. It has colored epoxy flakes broadcast over the surface to add an attractive decorative effect as well as a slip-resistant texture.
  • Metallic epoxy. This type of epoxy concrete coating incorporates metallic pigments that are agitated to form a three-dimensional illusion.

It’s a common misconception that epoxy concrete coatings are slippery. This is easy to understand because epoxy has a seamless and glossy surface. Generally, epoxy is very safe to walk on when it’s clean and dry with similar grip to a basketball court. If you are concerned about skid resistance, especially if the floor will get wet such as in a commercial setting or garage, we recommend a slip-resistant additive, epoxy quartz flooring, or epoxy flake flooring which all offer a textured surface.

Traditional concrete isn’t as durable as it looks because it’s naturally very porous and prone to cracks, spalling, and other issues. An epoxy floor coating protects your concrete floor from stains and damage while increasing its tensile and compressive strength. Epoxy is seamless and nonporous to make cleaning your floors a breeze. It’s also highly decorative with endless ways to get the floor you are envisioning.

Epoxy floor coatings were originally designed for commercial environments. Epoxy is a clear choice for almost any industry because it both protects the concrete floor while creating a hard-working surface that can hold up against almost anything. Epoxy coatings are USDA approved and can be used anywhere sanitation is a concern, including food processing plants, kitchens, and hospitals. Its nonporous and seamless surface resists liquids and isolates spills on the surface for easy decontamination and cleanup. It can also hold up against forklift traffic, shopping cart wheels, chemical spills, abrasion, and more. Specialty formulations are available for intense industrial settings and areas that require waterproof flooring or static dissipation.

It generally takes just one to two days for professional garage floor epoxy installation. Our contractors will begin by making necessary repairs, lifting stains, and diamond grinding your concrete. This is the part that takes the longest. Once the surface is prepped, your epoxy will be installed. Depending on the type of epoxy system you choose, it may take more than one or two days. After installation, your epoxy should be left alone for 24-48 hours before it’s ready for light foot traffic. Wait at least 5 days before you drive on your new garage floor..you can read garage eopxy floor coating

Caring for your epoxy flooring is easier than you may think. You can just sweep and mop your floor regularly to keep it looking its best. Epoxy flooring in a garage or commercial setting can even be pressure washed and squeegeed as long as you have adequate cove protection installed.

While very hardy, epoxy flooring can still be damaged. Use mats at doorways to prevent tracking moisture and grit on your shoes onto the epoxy where it can become imprinted in the floor. Most cleaning products are perfectly safe to use on epoxy but you should avoid acidic products that can degloss the epoxy coating. Soap-based products won’t damage an epoxy concrete floor but they will leave a dangerously slippery buildup on the surface. If your epoxy does develop stains, they can typically be lifted easily with a soft brush and TSP or CLR.
